I act, I support Humanium’s mission

Saturday, December 29th, 2012

If each person reading this text gave € 5 today, Humanium could continue its mission to implement Children’s Rights in 2013.

Humanium is a neutral and independent organization. We operate with a network of volunteers who are committed to serving children. Our actions require very little money, but we cannot do anything without it.

In four years of commitment to children and the most vulnerable populations, Humanium helps to improve the living conditions of 6,926 people in India.

We also develop the Children’s Rights Portal on the Internet to promote and defend children’s rights around the world.

I thank you for making a donation now to enable Humanium and its volunteers to continue to make Children’s Rights a reality.

Thank you for your generosity.
Olivier Soret, Humanium President

This Christmas, Give a Child the Gift of Hope

Saturday, December 22nd, 2012

The holidays are approaching: this Christmas, reach across borders and give a child in India the gift of hope!

Even a dollar helps us to successfully complete our long-term projects to improve living conditions for dozens of children, families, and entire villages.

Your contributions help us fund schools for children, higher studies for adolescents, and businesses for their parents.

Every contribution counts! Help us to continue and extend our programs: make a contribution for Christmas!

  • A 30€ gift helps us to provide an education for a child who does not have access to a school.
  • A 60€ gift provides a healthy diet for fifteen children.
  • A 120€ gift fulfills one child’s basic needs for one year.

Thank you!

Internship testimony- Apolline Garnier

Monday, November 12th, 2012

Apolline Garnier, with a Masters in International Security and Humanitarian Law, has completed an internship of 4 months in the field of Children’s Rights with Humanium..

“The desire to give one’s all to advance the cause of children, in a modern and specific manner created by the founder of Humanium, Olivier Soret, along with a team of determined interns, computers with questionable performance, a very greedy dog, and valuable volunteers who are generous with their time and their expertise made for a fantastic experience. Once you consider that all this was in combination with good humour, then you can understand how Humanium functions and how I have passed the four exceptional months of my internship!

Today ends a rich adventure with happy memories that will stay with me forever,

Viva Humanium!”

Apolline Garnier

Testimonial – Fanny Chappuis

Monday, October 29th, 2012

Fanny Chappuis, who has a Master’s degree specializing in the development and management of international projects, has completed a 6 month internship in fundraising and project management at Humanium.

“After spending 6 months at Humanium, my head is full of memories, yet there is a twinge of sadness that my adventure ends here.

I took great pleasure carrying out varied tasks, from communication to project monitoring and many brainstorming sessions, and seeing myself entrusted with many responsibilities. Above all, I discovered a deep interest in fundraising and its many challenges.

Humanium is an apt name, because the association owes its success first and foremost to the human qualities of its founders, interns, volunteers, and donors.

I am convinced that human-sized organizations fully deserve their place on the international scene. Progress accomplished in the field, such as the children’s rights portal, proves this.

Now, I leave for new adventures, proud, and rich with a solid experience at Humanium to accompany me.”

Testimony – Marie Rivollet

Monday, September 17th, 2012

Marie Rivollet holds a Masters degree in Geopolitics and International Relations. She worked a 6-month Children’s Rights internship at Humanium.

“Once upon a time, there lived a young woman who was passionate about human rights  – let’s call her Marie. In another life, Marie would have become a fearless knight, or robbed Prince John as a wandering outlaw in green tights. But times have changed. Dragons and treacherous princes no longer roam these lands. Widows and orphans are not the only ones who need our help. Today, we can also fight injustice from a computer with the click of a mouse.

After her first uplifting experience at the UN, Marie remained convinced that her path was pointing her towards an NGO. She thus sought out work at a modest young organization. Olivier, its president and founder, agreed to give her a chance, and Marie was overjoyed to join Humanium’s youthful and energetic team.

Her first task was to write thematic spotlights and reports on the state of children’s rights throughout the world. She also discovered the joys and challenges of coordinating a network of volunteers. As time went on, Marie had the opportunity to try her hand at web marketing, developing social networks, researching grants, and running an online boutique, among many other things.

Her job was not always easy. Marie had to learn to resist her colleagues’ clownish antics, the coffee and cookie breaks, and the ever-present desire to cuddle with Shaya, the association’s mascot. But she stood firm, and in the end, she lacked for neither work nor new experiences during her six-month stay.

When August arrived, it was a bittersweet Marie that took her leave of Humanium, confident in her career choice, and very grateful to everyone: to Oliver and Arndt, two people with big hearts and heads stuffed full of good ideas; to Olivia, Morgane, and Fanny B., who welcomed her so warmly; and finally (in order of appearance), to Fanny C., Marie, Apolline, Mélanie, and Alexia, who will undoubtedly guide the organization to new adventures.

As for Marie, what will she do next? Well, that’s another story, for another day…”

Report of the General Assembly

Monday, September 3rd, 2012

The General Assembly between the Swiss, French, and German branches of Humanium was held on August 2nd.
This is the feedback from this fundamental event of community life.

Olivier Soret presided over the joint assembly and spoke to the members of  Humanium’s accomplishments for 2011, at international levels as well as those achieved in India along with the help of local partners.

The ongoing and future projects were also discussed at the meeting.

Furthermore, participants had the opportunity to approve financial management of the associations and elect instruments of direction and control.

The presidents and the entire team wholeheartedly thank the attendees for their involvement and participation in helping children.

Now more country information available!

Monday, August 27th, 2012

Humanium unveiled its project to detail the statistics of the Rights of the Child for each country in February 2012. The publication of this project is moving forward with great success and the drafting of information and orientation sheets is quickly coming to fruition.

Thanks to the hard work of the Humanium team, along with the efficient help of a small army of volunteers, the situation of children from more than two-thirds of countries worldwide has been compiled and studied: already more than 130 information sheets exist online today!

Working with volunteers from around the entire world is very interesting. Some days, the team encounters some surprises in the responses that are sent to us, often pertinent remarks. It is truly a pleasure to see the involvement and sincerity of all those people who give of their time to the rights of the children.”           ~Apolline

With its simple and illustrated content, the Portal provides information that allows for both young and old to understand the difficulties faced by children of each country of the world and to explore ways to help in order to make children rights a reality.

The Portal is a legitimate tool. Thanks to this online information and the help of lawyers, children can find honest counseling towards finding solutions for their problems.”  ~Mélanie

Humanium’s Annual General Meeting

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

Humanium’s Annual General Meeting will take place Thursday, August 2nd at 7pm at the association’s headquarters in Versoix, Geneva. All members are invited to attend.

First of all, it will be an occasion to gather Swiss and French members together, and to take stock of different projects that were able to be carried out thanks to your support.

We will discuss how past actions were managed, and we will determine what the future activities will be for improving the situation of children in India and around the world.

The General Meeting, presided by Olivier Soret, will allow us to discuss each person’s ideas together, actions that it would be interesting to carry out supporting children and project development. We will also bring up the budgets needed for these projects to be implemented properly, and will bring previous fiscal years to a close.

Please inform us of your participation using this registration form. The agenda and practical details can be found there.
