{"id":13209,"date":"2013-05-06T09:24:12","date_gmt":"2013-05-06T09:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/?page_id=13209"},"modified":"2025-12-05T16:14:55","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T16:14:55","slug":"childrens-rights","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/childrens-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Children&#8217;s Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/childrens-rights-history\/\">Children&#8217;s Rights History<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/cambodgien-un-kibae-park.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16696\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00ab Mankind owes to the child the best that it has to give.\u00bb<\/strong> It is with these words that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/geneva-declaration\/\">Geneva Declaration<\/a> of the Rights of the Child was adopted in 1924, followed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/declaration-rights-child-2\/\">Declaration of the Rights of the Child<\/a> in 1959.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/convention\/\">Convention on the Rights of the Child<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/role-actif-enfant-convention.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16606\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>On November 20, 1989, the General Assembly of the United Nations unanimously adopted the International <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/convention\/\">Convention on the Rights of the Child<\/a>. The application of this text represents a goal for all humankind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/children-world\/\">Children in the world<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All children have the same rights. However, their rights are violated in many countries, and children do not benefit from the same rights.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/africa\/\">Africa<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/americas\/\">Americas<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/asia-pacific\/\">Asia &amp; Pacific<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/europe-caucasus\/\">Europe &amp; the Caucasus<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/middle-east-north-africa\/\">Middle East &amp; North Africa<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/focus-on\/\">Focus<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/fillette-pakistan.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16618\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The main factor linked to the violation of children&#8217;s rights is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/poor-children\/\">poverty<\/a>. Many problems persist such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/child-labour\/\">working children<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/nondiscrimination\/\">discrimination<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/abuse\/\">abuse<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/sexual-abuse-children\/\">sexual exploitation of children<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/donation\/\">Get Involved<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/team.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16697\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Together we can act now to promote the respect for children&#8217;s rights :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I talk about it with those around me,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I become a member,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/child-sponsorship\/\">I sponsor a child<\/a>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/donation\/\">I make a donation<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Children&#8217;s Rights History \u00ab Mankind owes to the child the best that it has to give.\u00bb It is with these words that the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted in 1924, followed by a Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959.
