The village of Sankarapuram was one of the poorest in southeast India. Many children were working and their rights were completely disregarded.<\/p>\n
Today, there are no more children working in Sankarapuram, thanks to the global and sustainable approach of the project conceived by Humanium and its partners.<\/p>\n
\n
By offering villagers, especially women, training and employment opportunities, the family is guaranteed a steady income, so children stop being a source of revenue.<\/p>\n
But the project didn\u2019t stop there! Its integrated approach made it possible to eliminate several other problems.<\/p>\n
Children are no longer dying of malnutrition because mothers can feed their offspring properly, thanks to their justly earned wages.
\nVillagers no longer fear illnesses, now that they have access to safe drinking water and waste no longer litters the ground.<\/p>\n
One child was even able to have heart surgery, an operation which never would have been possible without the creation of the clinic.<\/p>\n
