Humanium Map Rates Countries over Respect for Children\u2019s Rights<\/strong><\/strong>.
\nIn honor of International Children\u2019s Day on November 20, Humanium has released a world map rating \u00a0each country’s respect for Children’s Rights. Ratings<\/a> were calculated according to the Realization of Children’s Rights Index<\/a> (RCRI), created by Humanium<\/a>. The map is available on Humanium’s Children’s Rights web site, \u00a0<\/strong>www.humanium.org\/en<\/a><\/p>\n

Newly Available Tools<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"The color-coded map gives a global picture of where children’s rights are most- and least-respected. Northern European and Western countries generally rank highest; Sub-Saharan countries generally rank lowest.<\/p>\n

The RCRI rates each of 196 countries on a scale from 0 (very serious situation) to 10 (good situation). Each rating reflects such considerations as the mortality rate of children under 5,\u00a0 child labor, child marriage, violence and ecological impact.\u00a0 This innovative index provides a comprehensive view of respect for Children\u2019s Rights worldwide.<\/p>\n

With such simple and easily accessible tools, Humanium is striving to create a climate of change \u00a0by raising public awareness concerning specific issues of Children’s Rights and encouraging every person to take action.<\/p>\n

Creating the Children\u2019s Rights Portal (www.humanium.org\/en)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The site was created last year to provide information and resources concerning Children\u2019s Rights. \u00a0It includes a summary of advances in Children\u2019s Rights, touching on existing judicial processes for the protection of children. \u00a0The website also examines issues specific to children — education, child labor and child soldiers — and general issues that still have direct effect on children, such as health care, nutrition, and domestic abuse.<\/p>\n

About Humanium<\/strong><\/p>\n

Humanium was founded on November 20, 2008, in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2009 offices were opened in France and Germany. Neutral, non-governmental, and non-denominational, Humanium works to fulfill Children\u2019s Rights, especially those of the poorest children. \u00a0The association is working towards lasting development in India, and uses the Children\u2019s Rights Portal to support children globally.<\/p>\n
