The United Nations recognized for the first time the specific rights of children.<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">1948 <\/span><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/universal-declaration\/\"><strong>Universal declaration of Human Rights<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>\u201cHuman beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights\u201d. Children have the right to \u201cspecial help and assistance\u201d.<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">1959 <\/span><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/declaration-rights-child-2\/\"><strong>Declaration of the Rights of the Child<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>For the first time, countries of different cultures recognized universal principles and necessities of the Rights of the Child.<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">1966<\/span> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/1966-international-covenant\/\"><strong>International treaties<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Protection from Exploitation and Right to Education for Children<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">1973\u00a0Convention 138 on the minimum age for admission to employment<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>The international Labour Organization sets 18 as the minimum age for work while health and safety can be compromised.<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">1989 <\/span><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/convention\/\"><strong>International Convention on the rights of children<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>A compelling text covering civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights of the Child is adopted for all States. It is \u201cTHE\u201d reference on the subject of the rights of the Child.<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">1999 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/child-labour-convention\/\">Convention 182 concerning the worst form of child labour<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>The International Labour Organzation prohibits and acts against the worst form of child labour.<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">2000 <\/span><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/protocol-child-soldier\/\"><strong>Optional protocol to the convention on the rights of children concerning their implication in armed conflicts<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Child protection from war and armed violence<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">2000<\/span> <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/protocol-child-sale\/\">Optional protocol concerning the sale of children, prostitution and child pornography<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">A specific protection from sexual exploitation<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2011 <a title=\"Optional protocol 3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.humanium.org\/en\/convention\/protocol\/\">Optional protocol regarding \u00a0the complaints procedure before the Committee on the Rights of the Child, 2011.<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>A specific procedure allowing the children or their representative to lodge a complaint.<\/h5>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Standard References on Child Rights 1924 Geneva Declaration on Child\u2019s rights \u201cMankind owes to the child the best that it has\u201d.
