Projects to help children in India
Aid project for the sustainable development of the village of AnnathurThis project was highly successful. All the children are now enrolled in school and none of them work anymore. The population’s living conditions have improved in a sustainable way.
Project descriptionDeveloped on the basis of a participative community approach, this project aimed to implement children’s rights and improve the long-term living conditions of the underprivileged. To achieve this, the project has dealt with the deep causes of poverty. Today, the children all have a promising future: they are enrolled in school and none of them work anymore. Thanks to the lasting vision of the project, every child will always have a seat in school. Women have received professional training, and some have begun work as seamstresses with local manufacturers, earning a decent salary. Family income is stable because the inhabitants have set up businesses amongst themselves with their savings. Stable income means greater respect for children’s rights. Parents are able to more easily provide for their young. Today, that most fundamental of rights, the right to nutrition, is guaranteed. Mothers have learned to cook balanced meals. In addition, inhabitants now have much better health as a result of the newly installed toilets and waste bins, which have improved hygiene and reduced the risk of spreading diseases that the children were suffering from in the past. On behalf of the children of Annathur, a warm thank you to all the donors ! |
