Questions – FAQs about Sponsorship

> Who is the child being sponsored?

The sponsored child is part of an at-risk population being served by a Humanium aid project. You can choose which country your child lives in on the sponsorship form or give Humanium the freedom to assign your sponsorship based on the most urgent needs of our projects.

Since your sponsorship will help more children than there are sponsors, the concept of “your sponsored child” is a symbolic one, because you’re actually helping several children in an optimized way.

> Can I write to a sponsored child or send them presents?

Picture a group of children where only one of them receives letters and presents. That would breed inequality, jealously, and discrimination.
Our first priority is protecting children and respecting their social and cultural environment. Because of this, it is not possible to correspond with one child in particular.

> What will I receive?

Every week, a new article and photos are published on our blog and social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). You can choose to receive our newsletter every 6-8 weeks.

> Do the sponsored children know about us?

The children are made aware of support from many donors, but we do not give them information about your identity.

How long does my sponsorship last ?

AThere is no required commitment to a Humanium sponsorship. The program is set up to ensure that the children won’t suffer negative consequences from any cancellations, so there is no specific length of sponsorship required.
We do recommend a minimum commitment of 2 years, but again, that is not required. You’re free to make your own choice!
