Launch of the Children’s Rights Portal in English

The Humanium team is very pleased to announce the birth of the little English brother of the Children’s Rights Portal:

www.childrensrightsportal.org

All information on children’s rights, the history behind them, their various aspects, the law texts that concern them, etc, are now available in English!

Created by Humanium and launched in November 2010 to celebrate the Day of Children’s Rights, the Children’s Rights Portal is now also available in English thanks to the wonderful work of dozens of volunteer translators and proof-readers.

This is a first step towards a more international dimension of the Children’s Rights Portal, a website for information and awareness that aims to reach as wide an audience as possible. Therefore, it was essential, in the eyes of the Humanium team, to make this tool available to English-speaking users.

The two portals will now grow in parallel: new articles are already available in both languages, such as a focus on child mortality, and another on the rights of children with disabilities.

Aims of the Children’s Rights Portal:

Like the French version, the English Children’s Rights Portal is first of all an information space where the theme of children’s rights is discussed in a broad and accessible way, using illustrated presentations and explanations on fundamental rights. The aim of the portal is to provide reliable and quality information to all those concerned with children’s rights.

The portal is also a tool to raise awareness. In fact, a brief look at the global status of various fundamental rights of children highlights the urgency and gravity of the problems that afflict them.

As the number of people aware of the cause of children’s right’s increases, so does our ability to protect their interests. This is the goal set by the Humanium Association, an association that has been active in defending children’s rights and in humanitarian aid in India since 2008. With the English Portal of Children’s Rights the entire team hopes to win over more voices for the benefit of children around the world, thus contributing to making their rights a reality.
