Building toilets to fight disease

Posted on Posted in Health

In the village of Annathur in South-East India, where Humanium is carrying out a program of generalized sustainable development aid, villagers gathered to set up private toilets.

The importance of using toilets was emphasized during the awareness campaign led by our local partner, Hand in Hand India. Most households in Annathur had no access to such facilities and were not necessarily convinced of their usefulness.

The villagers were introduced to the basic rules leading to better hygiene and learned about the benefits that come from toilets, especially their role in combating disease.
Twelve families are already building private toilets thanks to loans, and technical support from our field teams.
