Children’s Rights Promotion… by children

In the village of Annathur in India, where Humanium has been active since 2010, children are their own spokespersons, and promote their own rights.

Who better than a child can ask for the respect of his rights to his parents ? In Annathur, the children have lead an awareness-raising campaign directed at the whole village community, in order to mobilise adults to commit themselves to protect and guarantee children’s rights.

Call on the adults, attract their attention, these are the main stakes represented by this protest, which calls on adults to gather, with the aim of participating in an awareness-raising campaign about the defence of children’s rights.

Moreover, a Committee for the protection of children’s rights was set up in the village. Its first task is to attract a particular attention to the problematic of child labour. The Committee received a training and three meetings have already taken place.

Alongside the set up of the global project for sustainable development in the village of Annathur, awareness-raising activities will be organized by the Committee for the protection of children’s rights, thanks to the support of the villagers, and with the help of Humanium and its local partners. The Committee will also benefit from several training sessions in order to function autonomously.

You too, encourage the children of Annathur, and support the defence of children’s rights !
