Participatory Community Meetings

Posted on Posted in Citizenship

In the village of Annathur, India, where Humanium has been supporting sustainable development initiatives since 2010, three participatory community meetings took place when Humanium began its work.

Humanium uses a participatory approach. The project is developed with villagers and they are the main stakeholders. Once the villagers have decided what activities will take place in the village, training and participatory meetings are organised.

Through games, the villagers learn about the overall organisation of their village, its operations, its challenges, etc.

Once the problems are identified and defined, the community proposes solutions, and social activists work with the villagers to set priorities and decide which activities will respond to everyone’s needs.
