The child care center in the village of Azakusamudram in southeastern India has been entirely renovated thanks to Humanium’s support.

Previously, the premises housing the child care center were dilapidated and hardly suitable to welcome children. Equipment was practically nonexistent, the children sat on the concrete floor, dishes were not washed, there was no water purifier and the teachers had almost no educational materials to use.

In 2011, the child care center was entirely renovated and equipped. The walls now bear invigorating colors and drawings of animals, plants, and historical figures. In addition, the child care center plays the role of an information and orientation center for young mothers, with posters on the walls educating them on the principles of pre- and post-natal health.

Furthermore, the child care center now has all the necessary equipment to assure individualized monitoring of the children’s nutritional status. The nutrition program can now enter a very active phase and dietary supplements can be optimally used to fight against malnutrition.
